Doctor Delivers Disturbing News to Couple Expecting Their First Baby
Marvin and Ingrid waited with excitement for the birth of their first child.
“My pregnancy was a blessing,” Ingrid told us. “I was waiting to find out if it was a boy or a girl.”
But late in the pregnancy the doctor gave them some troubling news, that their daughter would be born with a cleft lip and palate.
“I told my wife that we should pray to God with all our hearts,” said Marvin. “I never cried in front of her, never in front of her. I decided to be strong to help her.”
After Lesly was born, Ingrid cared for their daughter as best she could.
And Marvin worked hard so they could try to save to pay for the surgery to repair Lesly’s lip and palate. Then recently Marvin lost his job.
“Our financial situation was very difficult. We had to ask for help just to buy food and formula for the baby,” said Marvin.
One day at an internet café, Marvin learned about Operation Blessing in Guatemala. He quickly contacted them for help.
Soon we arranged for a surgeon to operate on Lesly and repaired her cleft lip free of charge.
Operation Blessing will provide a second surgery at a later date to fix the cleft palate.
Today Marvin and Ingrid are celebrating the gift that gave Lesly a brand new smile!
“We are so thankful to God first, and Operation Blessing. And I hope that God bless you and give you strength to help more people,” said Marvin.
