CBN.com — The last message Karla received from her husband came on a piece of cardboard. He said he was leaving her.

"It was just a note, no explanation," Karla says. "I was devastated and felt so hopeless because he was gone!"

In an instant, Karla became a single mother of two with no job skills and only five dollars in her pocket.

"I didn't know what to do," she says. "I had nothing to feed the children. I cried."

After she sold their few possessions, Karla started doing laundry. But that only provided income one or two days a week. By the end of the month, she'd lost the home they were renting.

"We began wandering the streets of San Pablo, wondering where we could go to find help," she recalls.

One day after finding a friend to stay with, Karla met someone from CBN's Operation Blessing. We knew Karla's greatest need was to provide for her family, so we gave her new a new cart and everything else she needed to start a small business selling food.

"There is no doubt that God brought these kind people to me," says Karla. "It was amazing; I couldn't believe it. I cried when I saw how they were helping me."

Karla has been running her small business for six months and each month earns about $300! This allows her to rent a house and provide for her children.

"When people see my food cart, they ask me about Operation Blessing," she says. "I tell them what a wonderful blessing they have been to me."
