What Would You Do If Your Child Couldn't Speak?
Mrs. Yang always dreamed of hearing her little boy say one simple word-- but at the age of three, he still couldn’t even say “momma!” Zhang was born nearly deaf. Both his mother and his sister would have done anything to fix this.
“My daughter loves her younger brother, Mrs Yang says. “She told me that she wished that she could give her eardrum to Zhang so that he could hear. My heart broke when i heard that.”
As poor as they are, the Yangs scrambled and got their son a hearing aid. But that didn’t fix Zhang’s speech problem. He still couldn’t say anything and needed speech therapy.
Mrs. Yang remembers, “People said to me that i shouldn’t even try to send my son to speech therapy because he’d just end up mute for his whole life. But i wanted to try.”
Mrs. Yang did her best to raise money. But she came up short. Then she heard about CBN’s mission to help poor children in China to hear. And soon Zhang was in class and learning to speak! Mrs. Yang remembers the first time she heard her son say “momma.”
Zhang’s sister was thrilled, too. “Now we can talk and play together!!!!”
Today, Zhang has the skills he needs to succeed!
“I really appreciate CBN for supporting my son with his speech therapy,” Mrs. Zhang concludes. “You have been such a help to my family!”
